Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice says that her family is going through a tough time right now as they prepare for her husband Joe’s deportation to his native Italy. But, she also revealed in a new interview what Joe’s plans are when he is finally a free man again.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Teresa said that she and her four daughters – Gia, 18, Gabriella, 14, Milania, 13, and Audriana, 10 – are “hanging in there” and doing well after a judge denied Joe’s bond request.

Got to speak with #RHONJ royalty @Teresa_Giudice last night. She shared an update on Joe's deportation case (and that MMA fighter rumor), addressed how the family is hanging in there and reacted to some of those season 10 trailer bombshells! https://t.co/bCnXR9Co1N @etnow

Joe spent three years in prison for bankruptcy fraud, but when the Bureau of Prisons released him in March after he served his sentence they turned him over to ICE custody instead of letting him go home to his family in New Jersey. Since then, Joe has been sitting in an ICE detention center waiting for a decision in his appeal.

An immigration judge ordered his deportation in October 2018, but Joe has been fighting the order ever since. Just a few days ago, he asked to be released on bond so he could wait for the appeal decision at home, but the judge denied his request.

At this point, it doesn’t look like Joe’s bid to stay in the United States will be successful, and the family is preparing for him to be deported in the coming months. Since the judge denied his bond request, Joe has asked for permission to go to Italy and wait for the decision there as a free man instead of behind bars at the Clinton County Correctional Center in Pennsylvania.

Joe came to the United States as a toddler, and he says he had no idea he wasn’t an American citizen until his fraud case. The immigration judge ordered his deportation because US law states that immigrants can be deported if they commit an “aggravated felony.”.

Teresa says that this experience hasn’t been easy on her family, but her daughters are “amazing, strong young women” and she guesses they got that “from their mommy.”

“It’s a tough time right now, so just being with my daughters [helps],” said Teresa.

She added that the rumors are true that Joe wants to become an MMA fighter when he is released, and he has an MMA body after being locked up for three-and-a-half years.

The Season 10 RHONJ trailer just dropped, and it features a few of Joe’s phone calls from prison.

“I’m getting deported and that’s all there is to it,” said Joe, as Gia sobbed and said, “I don’t know if I’m ready to let him go.”
