About Sheynnis Palacios

Sheynnis Palacios was born on May 30, 2000, in Diriamba, Nicaragua. Her journey in pageantry began at La Salle Managua Pedagogical Institute, where she emerged victorious in the Miss Lasallista beauty pageant. While pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mass communication at Central American University in Managua, she also showcased her talent in volleyball. Prior to her reign as Miss Universe, Palacios worked as a journalist in Nicaragua.

In 2016, she claimed the title of Miss Teen Nicaragua, which propelled her into the world of pageantry. Representing her nation, she participated in the Teen Miss Universe 2017 pageant and achieved a commendable position in the top 10. Following a break from pageants, Palacios returned to compete in Miss World Nicaragua 2020, where she emerged as the winner. As Miss World Nicaragua, she proudly represented Nicaragua at the Miss World 2021 pageant.

The initial schedule for Miss World 2021 called for it to take place on December 16, 2021, in San Juan, PR. The official pageant presentation was cancelled and rescheduled two days before it was scheduled to air because to multiple COVID-19 cases that were reported among the contestants and personnel. Palacios was eventually chosen as one of the forty; however she did not proceed further in the competition. The pageant was later rescheduled for March 16, 2022, with only the forty chosen semi-finalists being allowed to return.

Palacios entered the Miss Nicaragua 2023 pageant in 2023, it was revealed. After winning the title in August 2023, Palacios was eligible to represent her nation at Miss Universe 2023. As Miss Nicaragua, Palacios had the privilege of representing her nation at the Miss Universe 2023 competition held in San Salvador, El Salvador, on November 18th. She achieved a significant milestone by becoming the fifth Nicaraguan representative to reach the semifinals and subsequently progressed to the Top 10, Top 5, and Top 3, impressing the global audience with her elegance and charm.

Palacios emerged as the victorious winner after the question-and-answer portion of the pageant, surpassing the first runner-up, Anntonia Porsild from Thailand. This remarkable feat made Palacios the first Nicaraguan to be crowned Miss Universe and the first Nicaraguan to win any of the prestigious Big Four international beauty pageants, etching her name in history.
