A tragic shooting occurred on Saturday at the Westfield Galleria shopping mall in Roseville, California, resulting in the death of a 34-year-old woman. The alleged shooter has been identified by police as the victim's partner, 29-year-old Simranjit Singh.

Details of the Shooting Incident

According to the Roseville Police Department, the shooting took place in a parking garage on the third floor of the Galleria mall. Singh allegedly shot the victim inside her vehicle and then fled the scene on foot, abandoning the firearm used at the scene of the crime.

Police responded swiftly, locating Singh near a Best Buy store across the street from the mall. He was taken into custody without incident and will face murder charges.

Roseville Police Lt. Chris Ciampa stated in a press briefing that the parking garage had an extensive security camera system which aided the investigation. Police were able to swiftly apprehend Singh based on eyewitness accounts and surveillance footage tracking the suspect's movements after the shooting.

According to reports, shortly after the shooting, Singh went to an Old Navy store inside the mall and purchased new clothing using cash. He changed into the new clothes in the store bathroom, placing the old clothes in a shopping bag. A store lockdown related to the active shooting prevented Singh from immediately leaving the Old Navy.

Perpetrator Apprehended Near Best Buy

Police located and arrested Singh outside of a nearby Best Buy. Lt. Ciampa noted that eyewitness tips and monitoring of the suspect's actions allowed police to take him into custody promptly.

Initially, eyewitnesses did not identify Singh, the victim's partner, as the shooter. However, police have expressed certainty that the appropriate suspect has been apprehended.

Ongoing Investigation and Aftermath

The Roseville Police Department is continuing its investigation into the fatal shooting. Lt. Ciampa stated that surveillance footage from the parking garage's security system will play a key role in the ongoing investigation.

He also reassured the public that there is no lingering security threat, saying "This incident was not a random act, so people can still feel safe when visiting Roseville."
